For story purposes, I wanted there to be a decent amount of time to include stuff in-between Wave and the Chuunin Exams. I chose March for the majority of Wave because it is about when spring begins since Konoha is in the Land of Fire, I assumed that their winters would be milder and that it would make sense for spring to come early there.

With the Land of Waves arc, I had to guess because we only know that it happened in spring based on my research, it really only took a single month, so I just picked the one that suited me best. That just really sounds like something he would do. Because, Kakashi’s birthday is 9/15, and I can totally see him showing up really late on his birthday and then putting off the actual test until the next day. I now have a little bit of story-canon that explains Kakashi putting off the Bell Test until the next day.

The incident with Mizuki obviously takes place that very night, and I’m pretty sure Naruto does take a day to recover before dealing with his registration.Īs for team assignments, I keep track of a lot of the main character’s birthdays, just so I know where they’ll pop up in-story, and when I saw how close Kakashi’s birthday was to them graduating, I took advantage of that. The graduation exam does take place the day after the prank, as seen in both manga and anime. I can’t recall my specific reason for that, save spacing it all out believably. Now, as seen in the list excerpt just above, I’ve got Naruto’s prank on the Hokage Monument marked for the day after his milk expires. 9/15: Kakashi Team Assignments Naruto drinks expired milk and has indigestion.
NARUTO TIMELINE REGISTRATION
9/14: Naruto takes his registration photo and meets Konohamaru.9/12: Graduation Exam Incident with Mizuki. Now, this will likely end up being story-canon, but it is not actually series-canon this is my own theory, linked in part to other research on which holidays they would actually celebrate there and why. Which, this would explain why they graduate at such an odd time of year, if the classes going and coming coincide with the two Equinox dates each year (funnily enough, in Japan, the Equinox is considered a day to remember the dead). I was thinking that the Academy could take in new classes twice a year, to coincide with the Spring and Autumnal Equinox celebrations (it also helps that they’re in March and September, respectively, which places them almost exactly 6 months apart), and that the current graduating class leaves the Academy in the week before the celebrations begin. I’ve been working on a little theory to explain both their graduation time and (sort of) the number of classes the Academy has. This is more because September makes more sense to me than October as a graduation month, especially if you take into account that the Autumnal Equinox is in September. (manga chapter 3)įor story purposes, I’ve kept their graduation in September, rather than the October that’s listed on AnimeFamily (due to a calendar shown in the anime’s 3rd episode see pic below). My headcanon for this bit is that Naruto left his milk sitting out too long, like an idiot. As far as Naruto’s frequent trips to the bathroom in this chapter, there are a lot of factors that determine actual expiration versus the listed expiration. It’s also remarked that the milk expired only a few days previous, as you can see, so I adjusted my timeline accordingly. There are Kanji for month and day inked in right next to the numbers, and through a google search on those kanji, I determined that the month came first in this particular instance, though I believe Japan usually marks the day first. Zoom in on the panel where Kakashi is holding the milk up to his face, and at the top of the carton, you will find the expiration date shown. Naruto’s milk expired on September 10, as shown in the manga page below. It made a decent reference for some of part 1. In creating a Naruto timeline for my own personal use, I did briefly consult a Naruto timeline on AnimeFamily ( ), mostly because the chart was easy to understand and made mention of specific dates shown in either the manga or the anime.
